Almond Tree Fest

Every year, more or less the first or second week of february, one of the most picturesque, atractive and traditional fests of Gran Canaria takes place in Tejeda and in Valsequillo the week after.

When the almond tree flowers sprout, announcing the beginning of spring-time, the center of the island, where these trees grow, turns into one of the most beautiful landscapes you could possibly imagine.

3 Wise Men parade

12 grapes to end the old year

You were probably saying: what?? 12 grapes??

No, I’m not crazy. As a, not only canarian but, entirely spanish tradition we celebrate the countdown to the new year in a very particular way:

The last 12 gongs, from normally a tower-clock, of the year when it gets 0:00 are ment to be accompanied with a sigle grape with every gong.

Lighted Las Palmas
