Info about Gran Canaria

The island of Gran Canaria is in the centre of the Canary Islands, directly between Tenerife and Fuerteventura. There rule all-year spring-like conditions with an average temperature from 18°C to 25°C.

Gran Canaria is third biggest from the Canary islands (after Tenerife and Fuerteventura), but in spite of its small size, the island is often described as a continent in the miniature.

In the south rule dry conditions and therefore many green pinewoods are found in the mountainous hinterland of Gran Canaria. Sometimes while still snow lies on a few places in the mountains, visitors are taking a cool bath in the Atlantic Ocean.

The beaches in Maspalomas are to the most popular bathing resorts. Thus a very lively night life is found in Maspalomas.

Gran Canaria offers in the evening many discotheques and bars, during the day beaches and bathing-places with all their activities.

The history of Las Palmas, the capital of the island, reaches up to 15. Century back. The colonial architecture, the shopping mall, the bars and the restaurants make this city very worth visiting.
