Holidayhomes on Gran Canaria

Monday, March 15th, 2010
There is no other island with such a conspicuous variety of landscapes like Gran Canaria. Only 200 km separated from the African coast and 1100 km from the Spanish mainland, Gran Canaria joins the archipelago of the Canary Islands.

In the heart of the island of Gran Canaria a number of ravines lead down to the coast, which gives it´s special characteristic shape to the island together with the volcanic origin.

The climate in Gran Canaria is generally mild and with a an average of about 21 degrees during the whole year.

The central mountain range divides the climate of the isle into the south and southwest clime. The south is marked by trade winds and more sunny weather ...

Surfing, a possibility to practice this great sport in your holiday

Friday, August 1st, 2008
The best place for surfing on Gran Canaria I can recommend is Castillo del Romeral, placed on Gran Canaria's east coast.

About three kilometers from the center of Castillo del Romeral you just have to follow the path in southern direction to get to this surfers paradise.

Surfer

You will be suprised! Alltough this place is not that far away from Playa Ingles, it is not that touristy.

Near the rocky beach along the surfing spot you can find a nice little lake with lots of birds and little fishes.

And if you should become hungry by surfing, take a look at all these tiny seafood restaurant along the coast or just ask one of the locals where you could get something special to eat.

Playa del Ingles, a lot of life and movement

Friday, February 1st, 2008
In Playa del Ingles, which means "The English Man's Beach" you will find a really beautiful beach, which stretches out over 5 kilometers.

That is why you can find a lot of tourism here with a lot of hotels, appartments, restaurants, shops and tourist information points and other facilitys.

So you have to keep in mind that economically Playa del Ingles has elevated prices as it is usual for places frequented by tourists.

Playa del Ingles is especially favoured by gay people. If you like to have a drink or a party, you should take a look at the mall called Yumbo-Center.

If you prefer a calmer place for your holiday you should avoid the huge cities of Gran Canaria and visit the small villages abroad from the tourism, where you can join the traditons of the island.

Gran Canaria, the third-largest island of the canary archipelago, offers 236 km of coast with marvellous sandy beaches, which are situated predominantly in the south and southeast. Some very well known beaches are Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas with their impressive dunes.

The southwest and west is dominated by rocky cliffs, the coast is very varied in the north and northeast with numerous beaches and little bays. The centre of the island is hilly with a couple of high peaks and many ravines which lead to the sea.

All the Canary Islands, also Gran Canaria are known because of numerous events and celebrations. Each commune has its own patron saint celebration and other special events. And that´s why all over the year there are celbrated several fiestas fro several reasons in several places.
