The port of Agaete grows to a harbour

Sunday, December 17th, 2006
At least this is what a project has planed, according to the regional infrastructure ministry. They exhibited this future project for the public including its possible environmental consecuences. This would multiply the number of passengers, thanks to a new shipping company, and double the capacity for fishingboats and other crafts of the actual docks to a total of 324 anchoring points. Since the port of Agaete has become a stategic spot for the canarian economy throughout the last years, the project also states to house a 1000m² shopping area with parking spaces, relocating the docks of the large ships away from the swimming areas. Lets hope they have done this project the way it ment to be, since Agaete is one of the most beautiful fishertowns we have, and this sound to me as if it would mess up the entire environmet. We'll see.
