Bus accident in Las Palmas, luckily on one badly injured.

Thursday, November 9th, 2006
Yetserday, a pretty serious accident happened in the neighbourhood of "El Pilar" in Las Palmas. At 8:25 in the morning a bus of the municipal transport service suffered a mechanical problem, thought to be a brake-problem, while ending its service. The vehicle rushed down a street out of control, due to a supposed lack of brake-power. First it crushed into two cars, but thanks to the driver's driving skills, he managed to speed down the bus by continuing its "rampage" down the road hitting other several parked cars. Tuesday, November 7th, 2006
Yesterday, around 1500 people met in "Agaete"32 for a pacific demonstration against of the project, proposed by the canarian district council, that should link "Agaete" and "La Aldea" with a motorway. The demonstrants carried an extended 5000m² black plastic canvas simbolizing the wanted re-location of the actual project to a zone which is less "agressive" to the environment of the natural park it goes through. The actual road between "Agaete" and "La Aldea" consists of 31 km with about 360 curves which are driven in moreorless 45 minutes. The new project consists of a stretch, of a reduced length of 18 km, with 12 tunnels and 9 bridges. The average speed of this new road will be 80km/h and will reduce the driving-time to 20 minutes. The length of all bridges and tunnels will be the 52,4% of the entire motorway and the longest bridge will be 530 m long. The whole ...

Monday, November 6th, 2006
Today november 6th, new security measures started on all european airports, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland. Concerning the canary islands too, this measures will be applied no matter what your destination is. This new measures are the result of the succsessful dismantelation in London, in August this year, of planned terrorist mid-flight attacks on planes departing from british airports. The suicide attackers planned to use a peroxide-based solution (liquid) that could ignite when sparked by a camera flash or another electronic device. Due to this, there are no liquids in your hand baggage allowed which contain more than 100ml. All liquids you are allowed to carry in your hand baggage must be put in a transparent plastic bag and will be limited to a maximum of one liter. Things such as baby food, medicines or special food for diabetic people will be allowed. Airport authorities will be allowed to scan portable pc's and ...
